Meet the Musician
Where do you call home?
Bulgaria
Where did you study? Who did you study under?
I graduated with my Performance Diploma from MSU with Prof. Dmitri Berlinsky. Also, I was having lessons with Moni Simeonov for orchestra excerpts.
When did you first discover your instrument? How old were you?
I started to learn solfege and singing when I was three years old. Two years after that, I decided to start playing the violin to help me with singing, but very soon, I realized that playing the violin was my vocation.
Who is a musician/mentor who inspires you? What makes them special?
Moni Simeonov is the person who inspired me the most. He is an exceptional violinist who prepared me for my KSO audition. He taught me how to practice and be conscious about every note I play. Doing this, I found that practicing even the most annoying passage can bring me joy.
What do you love most about Kalamazoo? What are your hobbies/interests outside of the music world?
As a musician who spends a lot of time in a practice room, I need sports activities to spend my energy. I found that the best one for me is cycling because I can also explore the area around me.
